Eating Out in Mallorca

when you are eating out always have a chat with the chef. As a general rule most of the chips you will not be able to eat but there may be exceptions. Carne a la plancha or meat on the grill is generally the safest option with a baked potatoe or salad. Watch out for english restaurants selling roast potatotes as normally they are actually fried and therefore contaminated. Check out my hints and tips page for more usefull info on what to ask the chef.

Mc Donalds Restaurants

Mc Donalds Restaurants

McDonalds are actually mostly gluten free except for the bread of course and most chicken dishes. Some McDonalds do have a gluten free menu were it tells you what you can and cannot have. Generally you can have all burgers without bread. (just say 'sin pan') Chips you can have but not the wedges although please be double careful and ask them are the chips cooked seperate to the delux patatas ortherwise known as wedges. (estan las patatas fritas cocinadas seperadas de las patatas delux?)

Most sauses are fine, mayonaise, mustard, barbque, curry, tomatoe ketchep. Salads include ensalada de la hueta and the sauses you can have are césar sause and balsamic vinagrette and you can also have the gazpacho soup. Desserts inlcude actimel normal and fresa (strawberry), danonino petit suisse fresa, furit & yogurt, Mc Flurry M&Ms, Ice Cream sundae with chocolate or fresa but caramel no. The nuts are gluten free.

Bar Ronda

Bar Ronda

Bar Ronda is a bar that has recently been in the newspaper for a review on its gluten free food. They called it "The Paradise of Celiacs". Owned and run by a celiac. Here they sell fresh and home baked gluten free bread, hamburger buns, baguettes, chocolate donuts and many many more. Products are to take away or you can eat in. Why not have a hamburger and chips with the bun and then a hot chocolate and churros for dessert. (very typical from Spain). Other products are also without sugar or lactose. Tapas Bar

Tapas Bar

In Magaluf near to Morgans Pub and next to Mrs Doyles Irish bar is a restaurant called Tapas bar. Here they have in my opion the best steaks on the island and for a very resonable price. You get a free starter of bread and garlic mayo so I normally bring my own bread and ask for a seperate portion of garlic mayo. The only thing is that you cant have the chips as they are cooked with other things containing flour. However steak or fish and salad, what more could you want.
